Ammonium chloride compound is a urinary acidifier. It prevents and dissolves uroliths, enhances renal secretion of toxins, and enhances the effectiveness of certain antimicrobials when treating urinary tract infections. It is available as a capsule or as an oral suspension. This compound requires a prescription from your veterinarian.

Ammonium Chloride Compound Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian, and follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Shake oral suspensions well before use. Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and response to the medication. Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Use with caution in pregnant pets or in those pets suffering from heart or liver disease. Ammonium chloride may interact with some other medications. Therefore, inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking. This is especially important if your pet is currently taking erythromycin, penicillin, or tetracycline. Finally, if you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while giving this medicaiton, contact your veterinarian immediately.
