Baytril Basics

Baytril is the trade name used for the antibiotic, enrofloxacin. Enrofloxacin belongs to a class of broad-spectrum synthetic chemicals called fluoroquinolones. These chemicals inhibit the replication of bacterial DNA. Baytril effectively treats bacterial infections found in the intestinal tract, urinary tract, liver, lungs, prostate, and skin.

Baytril requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in tasty, chewable tablets for dogs and cats as well as in an injectable form. Tablets come in three different sizes: 22.7 mg, 68 mg, 136 mg. The injectable form is available in a strength of 100 mg/mL.
