Budesonide compound is a glucocorticoid used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in small animals. This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available as a capsule, oral suspension and tiny tablet.

Budesonide Compound Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian, and follow all instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian. Dosage and duration of administration depend on the condition being treated and response to treatment. Do not stop treatment suddenly, as doing so can cause serious side effects.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Shake oral suspensions well before use.

Budesonide Compound Warnings

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Use with caution in pets that are pregnant or lactating. Do not use if your pet has a known hypersensitivity to budesonide. Do not stop treatment suddenly. Use with caution in pets suffering from diabetes, infections, or ulcers.  This compound may interact with some other medications. Therefore, inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking. This is especially important if your pet is currently taking antacids, ketoconazole, or phenobarbital. Finally, if you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering this medication, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Adverse Reactions and Serious Side Effects

Adverse reactions and serious side effects are rare, however, they can occur. In the case of a more serious reaction, seek immediate veterinary attention.
