Carprofen Compound Basics
Carprofen Compound requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) similar to aspirin and ibuprofen, and it is the generic equivalent of the pet medication, Rimadyl. This medication helps to treat limping or lameness, decreased activity or exercise, stiffness, decreased movement of joints, and pain following surgery. Like other NSAIDs, it works by inhibiting the formation of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemicals in the body that promote inflammation, pain, and fever. Carprofen is available as a capsule and as an oral suspension.
Our pharmacists specially formulate all PetMart Pharmacy compounds to meet the needs of your pet. Please contact us if you need another form, strength, or flavor of this compound. All compounds are shipped within 1 day of preparation according to their specific temperature requirements.
