Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that treats allergic conditions in dogs and cats, including allergies, allergic reactions, and atopic dermatitis. It causes blood vessels to constrict, reducing inflammation and itchiness.

This product is available over the counter and, therefore, requires no prescription. It is available in 4mg 100 count bottles.

Chlorpheniramine Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian. Follow the instructions on the prescription label. Allow your pet access to plenty of water to drink. Give with food. In the case of a missed dose, give it as soon as you remember or wait until it is time to give the next one. Do NOT give a double dose of this medication, as it can cause an overdose.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Chlorpheniramine Warnings

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use in animals with known allergies to chlorpheniramine. Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals. This medication is not recommended for working dogs, as it can cause sedation. Use caution in animals suffering from lung disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hyperthyroidism, heart failure, high blood pressure, or gastrointestinal or urinary tract obstructions. Consult your veterinarian if your pet is taking any other medications, especially barbiturates, antidepressants, heparin, warfarin, tranquilizers, selegiline, furazolidone, or amitraz. If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Allergic Reactions and Serious Side Effects

Allergic reactions and serious side effects are rare, but in the case of an allergic reaction or a serious side effect you should seek veterinary attention immediately. Some common signs of allergic reactions and serious side effects are hives, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, cold limbs, pale gums, coma, seizures, and shock. Furthermore, the following symptoms could be signs of an overdose severe sedation, coma, seizures, inability to urinate, dry mouth and eyes, hyperactivity, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, fever, and slow breathing.
