Clomipramine Compound Basics
Clomipramine is available by prescription only. Clomipramine is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor used to treat behavioral issues in dogs and cats. Clomipramine helps treat anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. Clomipramine may help treat aggression. Clomipramine compound is available as a capsule and a tiny tablet.
Clomipramine Compound Warnings
Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use in pets with known hypersensitivity to clomipramine. Clomipramine may interact with some other medications. Inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking, especially antithyroid drugs, fluoxetine, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), phenobarbital, or other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Use with caution if your pet also suffers from arrhythmias, GI motility issues, hyperthyroidism, seizures, or urinary retention. Use with caution in breeding males and pregnant females. Do not use clomipramine with flea collars unless instructed to do so by your veterinarian. Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
Clomipramine Compound Directions
Use as directed by your veterinarian. Follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Clomipramine may be given with food if your pet experiences stomach upset after administration. Store tablets and capsules in a cool, dry place. Behavioral changes may take several weeks to appear.
If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering clomipramine, contact you veterinarian immediately.
Adverse Reactions and Serious Side Effects
Overdoses of clomipramine can be serious. If you believe your pet has taken an overdose of clomipramine, contact your veterinarian immediately.
