Droncit treats tapeworms in dogs and cats. It includes the active ingredient praziquantel, a parasite-control drug with strong activity against a number of different tapeworms. Droncit works by impairing the function of the tapeworm’s sucker and dislodging the parasite’s attachment to the intestinal tract.
Droncit requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in 23mg tablets for cats and 34mg tablets for dogs.
Give as directed by your veterinarian and follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian. Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and response to the medication. Do not use in kittens younger than 6 weeks old or puppies younger than 4 weeks old. Give tablets with or without food.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Donicit is not intended for human consumption. Use in dogs and cats only. Do not use in pets with known allergies to Droncit or in pregnant animals. Do not use in kittens less than 6 weeks old or puppies less than 4 weeks old. If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering this medication, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Adverse Reactions and Serious Side Effects
Adverse reactions and serious side effects are rare, however, they can occur. The following symptoms could be signs of an overdose: nausea, drowsiness, or diarrhea. In the case of an adverse reaction or serious side effect, seek immediate veterinary attention.
