Enalapril/Furosemide Compound Basics
Enalapril/Furosemide is available by prescription only. Enalapril/Furosemide is used to treat congestive heart failure and other heart conditions. Enalapril/Furosemide is a combination of two medications Enalapril and Furosemide. The primary use of enalapril is for the treatment and prevention of heart failure and high blood pressure. Furosemide is primarily used to treat congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, or fluid in the lungs, high blood pressure, high calcium and potassium levels, liver disease, and specific kidney diseases. Enalapril/Furosemide Compound is available in an oral suspension.
Enalapril/Furosemide Compound Warnings
Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to enalapril or furosemide. Notify your veterinarian if your pet has ever had an allergic reaction to enalapril, furosemide or the following benazepril, captopril, and lisinopril. Enalapril/Furosemide Compound can have a negative reaction when mixed with some other medications. Inform your doctor of any and all medications your pet is taking, especially spironolactone, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), other heart and blood pressure medications, such as theophylline, steroids, digoxin, or aspirin. Periodic bloodwork is necessary to monitor kidney and liver values. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating. Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Enalapril/Furosemide Compound Directions
Use as directed by your veterinarian. Always follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Store enalapril/furosemide compound at room temperature. Shake oral suspensions before use. Be sure to complete the prescription to ensure a full recovery, unless your veterinarian instructs you otherwise. Duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication, and development of any adverse effects. Allow your pet access to plenty of water. Enalapril/Furosemide compounded oral suspension is administered by a syringe into your pet’s mouth. Oral Suspensions can be a good option if your pet refuses to swallow pills.
Enalapril/Furosemide Compound Dosage FAQs
In the case of a missed dose, give it as soon as you remember or wait until it is time to give the next dose. DO NOT GIVE A DOUBLE DOSE OF ENALAPRIL/FUROSEMIDE . In the case of an overdose, seek attention from your veterinarian. The following symptoms could be signs of an overdose loss of appetite, weakness, dizziness, disorientation, or fainting.
If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering enalapril/furosemide, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Allergic Reactions and Serious Side Effects
Allergic reactions and serious side effects are rare, but in the case of an allergic reaction or a serious side effect, seek immediate veterinary attention. Some common signs of an allergic reaction or serious side effect are facial swelling, breathing difficulties, fainting, fever, unusual bruising or bleeding, rapid weight gain, scratching, shock, fluid in the lungs or abdomen, coughing, hair loss, lesions, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin (jaundice).
