K-BroVet Basics

K-BroVet is a potassium bromide drug used to treat seizures in dogs. It works by altering the cell membrane of neuronal cells.

K-BroVet requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available as an oral solution or chewable tablets.

K-BroVet Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian and follow all instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian. Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and response to the medication.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

K-BroVet Warnings

Keep out of reach of children and pets. K-BroVet is not intended for human use. Use in dogs only. Do not use in pets with a known hypersensitivity to Bromide. Use with caution in older dogs. The safety of K-BroVet has not been established in young dogs or pregnant or nursing dogs. Do not use in cats. K-BroVet may interact with some other medications. Inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking. This is especially important if your pet is currently taking medications containing chloride or halothane anesthesia. If you notice any behavioral or physiological side effects when administering this medication, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Adverse Reactions and Serious Side Effects

Adverse reactions and serious side effects are rare, however, they can occur. Drowsiness should subside within three weeks of beginning K-BroVet treatment. Overdoses of potassium bromide while giving this product are possible. Possible signs of an overdose include ataxia, or a loss of control of body movement, diarrhea, blood in pet’s stool, salivation, shivering, skin lesions, stupor, and possible coma and death. In the case of an adverse reaction or serious side effect, seek immediate veterinary attention.
