Melatonin is available over the counter. No prescription is required. Melatonin is a pinneal gland hormone. Melatonin can be used to treat alopecia, or hair loss, separation anxiety, or some sleeping disorders.

Melatonin Warnings
Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Melatonin should be used with caution in pets with kidney diseases, liver diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, or neurologic disorders. Give melatonin with caution in pets who are pregnant or nursing. Use melatonin with caution if your pet is also taking benzodiazepine or succinylcholine chloride. Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Melatonin Directions
Use as directed by your veterinarian. Results can take up to 3 months to take effect. Store at room temperature. Protect from light and moisture.
