Seresto Flea & Tick Collar
Seresto Flea & Tick Collar Basics
Seresto Flea & Tick Collar offers flea and tick protection for both cats and dogs. It reduces the risk of vector-borne disease transmission from parasites for up to 8 months. The collar uses a polymer matrix to provide dose adjusted release of two proven active ingredients: Imidacloprid, a potent insecticide and Flumethrin, an acaricide. The polymer matrix adjusts the amount of active ingredients depending on the concentrations within the lipid layer on the pet´s skin. This ensures a steady, low-dose release profile, providing optimal protection for up to 8 months. Laboratory trials found that the combination of imidacloprid and flumethrin is 100 times more effective against fleas than imidacloprid alone, based on in vitro studies. Seresto is water and shampoo resistant, but if your pet swims or is bathed more than one time each month, collars may not be effective for the full 8 months.
This is an over the counter product and, therefore, requires no prescription. It is available in three sizes: Cats, Dogs 0-18lbs (small), and Dogs over 18lb (large).
Seresto Flea & Tick Collar Directions
Use as directed by your veterinarian and follow the instructions printed on the product packaging. Remove collar from protective bag immediately prior to use. Make sure that there are no remnants from the plastic connectors inside the collar before use. Insert the end of the collar through the buckle and adjust the collar around your dog or cat’s neck without tightening it too tight. As a general rule of thumb, it should be possible to insert two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck. Pull any excess collar through the loop, and cut off any excess length extending 1 inch, or 2 centimeters, beyond the loop. Seresto comes with three optional reflector clips to attach to the collar to help keep your dog visible at night. Evenly distribute reflector clips evenly distributed on the non-overlapping part of the collar.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
