Simplicef Basics

Simplicef is a cephalosporin that fights skin infections and some other bacterial infections found in dogs. It treats bacterial strains such as Staphylococci, Streptococci, Escherichia, Pasteurella, and Proteus. This medication works by inhibiting the growth of the bacterial cell wall. The cell wall becomes unstable and ruptures, causing the bacterial cells to die.

This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in 100mg and 200mg tablets.

Simplicef Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian and follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription to ensure a full recovery, even if your pet seems to be improving, unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian. Dosage and duration depend on the condition being treated and response to the medication. Give with food to prevent stomach irritations.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Simplicef Warnings

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Simplicef will not treat fungal infections, viral infections, or those infections caused by mites or parasites, such as intestinal worms. Simplicef may interact with some other medications. Therefore, it is important to inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your dog may be taking. Do not use in the presence of antacids. Do not use in pets with a known allergy to cefpodoxime, penicillin, or cephalosporin antibiotics. Use with caution in pets that are pregnant or lactating. Notify your veterinarian if your dog has any kidney or intestinal diseases. If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering Simplicef, contact your veterinarian immediately.
