Spironolactone Basics

Spironolactone treats congestive heart failure, edema, high blood pressure (hypertension), potassium deficiency, and hyperaldosteronism. It works by increasing the levels of water excretion by the kidneys.

This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian and is available in 25mg and 50mg tablets.

Spironolactone Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian and follow the instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription unless told otherwise by your veterinarian. Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and response to the medication. Be sure to give consistently in order to effectively manage symptoms. Also, give with food and water to lessen stomach upset.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
