Description

Theophylline Compound Basics

Theophylline Compound is a smooth muscle relaxant. Smooth muscle relaxants are airway dilators that work by opening the bronchial tubes. Theophylline treats heart failure, asthma, bronchitis, and chronic lung disease. It blocks enzymes inside of cells and promotes dilation of the smooth muscles in bronchial tubes and blood vessels. This increases the diameter of the airways and allows more air to flow through. Theophylline also helps the body get rid of excess fluid through the kidneys.

Theophylline Compound requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in several different strengths of both extended release (ER) and immediate release (IR) capsules.

Our pharmacists specially formulate all PetMart Pharmacy compounds to meet the needs of your pet. Please contact us if you need another form, strength, or flavor of this compound. All compounds ship within 1 day of preparation according to their specific temperature requirements.

Theophylline Compound Directions

Give as directed by your veterinarian, and follow all instructions printed on the prescription label. Complete the entire prescription unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian. Duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, the response to the medication, and the development of any adverse effects. Give theophylline on an empty stomach. Allow your pet access to plenty of water throughout treatment.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
