Theophylline Compound Basics

Theophylline Compound is a smooth muscle relaxant. Smooth muscle relaxants are airway dilators that work by opening the bronchial tubes. Theophylline treats heart failure, asthma, bronchitis, and chronic lung disease. It blocks enzymes inside of cells and promotes dilation of the smooth muscles in bronchial tubes and blood vessels. This increases the diameter of the airways and allows more air to flow through. Theophylline also helps the body get rid of excess fluid through the kidneys.

Theophylline Compound requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in several different strengths of both extended release (ER) and immediate release (IR) capsules.

Our pharmacists specially formulate all PetMart Pharmacy compounds to meet the needs of your pet. Please contact us if you need another form, strength, or flavor of this compound. All compounds ship within 1 day of preparation according to their specific temperature requirements.
