Torsemide Compound Basics

Torsemide Compound treats congestive heart failure. This diuretic is ten times more potent than furosemide, another diuretic used to treat congestive heart failure. It works by preventing sodium and chloride from being reabsorbed. Torsemide is prescribed legally by veterinarians as an extra-label drug.

Torsemide Compound requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available as an oral suspension.

Our pharmacists specially formulate all PetMart Pharmacy compounds to meet the needs of your pet. Please contact us if you need another form, strength, or flavor of this compound. All compounds ship within 1 day of preparation according to their specific temperature requirements.

Torsemide Compound Directions

Use as directed by your veterinarian, and follow all instructions printed on the prescription label. Shake oral suspensions well before use. Give doses with or without food. Allow your pet access to plenty of water throughout treatment.

Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.

Torsemide Compound Warnings

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not use in pets with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to diuretic drugs. Use with caution in pets that suffer from diabetes or liver disease. Use with caution in pets that are pregnant or lactating. Torsemide may interact with some other medications. Therefore, inform your veterinarian of any and all medications your pet may be taking. This is especially important if your pet is currently taking ACE inhibitors or non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Finally, if you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your pet while administering torsemide, contact your veterinarian immediately.
