Vetadryl Basics

Vetadryl treats allergy symptoms, allergic reactions, and atopic dermatitis (itchy skin). It also treats motion sickness and vomiting, coughing, and anxiety. This medication belongs to the antihistamines class of drugs. It is specifically designed as a veterinary grade Benadryl for use in dogs and cats. Antihistamines work by blocking the effects of histamines. Histamines are chemicals that are released in the body in response to inflammation or allergies. When histamines attach to H-1 receptors in the body, it causes the blood vessels to widen which leads to swelling and itchiness.

Vetadryl requires a prescription from you veterinarian.  It is available in 10mg and 30mg tablets.
