Vetprofen Basics

Vetprofen reduces pain and inflammation due to chronic arthritis and reduces pain following surgery in dogs. Also known as Carprofen, Vetmedin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is the generic equivalent of Rimadyl. It treats symptoms such as limping or lameness, decreased activity or exercise, stiffness, decreased movement of joints, and pain relief following surgery. Vetprofen inhibits the formation of prostaglandins- chemicals in the body that promote inflammation, pain, fever, and increased blood clotting.

This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It is available in chewable tablets or caplets that come in 25mg, 75mg, and 100mg.
