Zimecterin Paste Basics
Zimecterin is used in horses to treat and control parasites. This product treats ascarids, bots, hairworms, lungworms, pinworms, stomach worms, strongyles, summer sores, and threadworms. It contains the active ingredient, ivermectin 1.87%.
Zimecterin is available over the counter. No prescription is required. It is sold in single syringes. Each syringe can treat 1250 lbs.
Use as directed, and follow all instructions printed on the product packaging. While holding the plunger, turn the ring on the plunger 1/4 turn to the left and slide it until the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking. Lock the ring in place by turning it 1/4 to the right. Make sure that your horse’s mouth does not contain any feed before administrating this product. Remove the cover from the tip of the syringe. Insert the syringe into your horse’s mouth at the space between the teeth. Depress the plunger as far as it will go, depositing the paste on the back of the tongue. Immediately raise your horse’s head for several seconds after administering.
Store at room temperature, protected from light and moisture.
Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Zimecterin is not intended for human use or consumption. It is for use in horses only. Do not eat or drink while administering the paste, and be sure to wash your hands after administering. Do not let paste come into contact with your eyes or your horse’s eyes. This product may be used in horses of any age. It is safe for use in pregnant mares as well. If you notice any behavioral or physiological changes in your horse while administering this product, contact your veterinarian immediately.
